STEPHEN ILOTT - ARTIST, WRITER, SPEAKER

 

Steve's artistic sensibility comes into play in a variety of ways, both on the job when helping to stage and organize a home for sale and when satisfying his own need for creativity.

He creates daily: Writing, (writing articles, corporate speeches, short stories, children's books, and television and film scripts.) artwork, photography, illustration, cartoons and He enjoys writing and delivering highly original lectures. He has a fondness for learning languages, and accents & dialects for voice over work. He loves to cook exotic and spicy dinners for his wife Irena. He has a fondness for Paris and loves to get there every few years to explore a new section.



ORIGINAL FINE ART & ILLUSTRATIONS

Steve's fun loving, creative side appears quite often via his wonderful sense of whimsy and humor. Many of his original art pieces have appeared in gallery showings in Montreal and are now in private collections. Many others are from original illustrations for various media including film posters, original logos for corporate ID or Restaurants, business brochures, articles, exhibitions, film and advertising storyboarding, RPG Gaming etc.

ORIGINAL DIGITAL ART
Steve has a fondness for creating original digital Photoshop artwork using original photos and melding his wit and imagination. He also restores family photos for clients to help them retrieve memories - part of why he calls himself 'The Domestic Archaeologist'.

CARTOONS
Steve has for many years made himself laugh as an editorial cartoonist, ghost writer for syndicated cartoonists and creator of comic strips and single panel cartoon humor.

Stephen is a man of multiple talents, humor and dedication. He is a Professional Writer, Illustrator, Voice Over Artist and award winning Lecturer, who has appeared in magazine articles, How To DVD's, and been heard on CBC radio.

His humorous non fiction book "The Domestic Archaeologist", based on his world as a Professional Organizer, is set for completion in 2009. He has written for advertising, radio, sketch comedy, for corporate CEO's, DVD commercial productions, articles, short stories, and in 2008 completed his screenplay for the theatrical thriller 'The Sketches' for Producer Melissa Demarco and Director Sergio Navaratta set for production in the fall of 2009.

The creation of the stories and characterizations for 'Almost Bent' a Drama comedy series in the works is a work of love and is allowing him a multicultural 'dramedy' backdrop on which to make commentary on modern day life in Canada and beyond. He is working with co-creator David La Thangue and a team of industry professionals and talented producers to make this dream TV series a reality some time soon.

He is also writing on a mystery series of his own creation called 'The Millie MaClean Mysteries' set in the Maritimes in the 1950's. His other company sees him as a Professional Organizer - which has earned him nominations from his peers in the field, kudos from the Real Estate Community and interest from reality TV producers. He uses his experiences extensively in his writing for Bent and in his well attended lectures. His true passion is writing about the real emotions and humour he sees around him.

Also in the works are a series of children's books which he hopes to perform as part of their marketing, the first of which (The Hodge Podge Twins) will be illustrated by his cousin a known children's book illustrator in Vancouver.

His professional experience includes thirteen years as a senior manager with The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in both Montreal and Toronto. Random training included; Communications at Concordia University, Radio Theatre with The Midwest Radio Theatre Company and on air productions with National Public Radio Columbia Missouri, Voice acting with Susan Berkely and Voiceworx Toronto, Writing at McGill University, University of Toronto, National Theatre School, Montreal, Sayde Bronfman Center, Montreal, Toastmasters International.
Media experience: Set co-ordinator French Soap Operas - Montreal, background on location with films Mother Night (Nick Nolte), Avenging Angelo (Sylvester Stallone, Madeleine Stowe), Once Upon a Time in America (Montreal). Set assistance on series Leap Years 2003. Also Storyboard Artist for independent Toronto film productions. Radio Commercial advertising writer, actor and director for ads such as Mother Tuckers, Sears, PSA's.
