STEPHEN ILOTT - BIOGRAPHY OF AN ORGANIZER

 
CORPORATE PAST
Those who know and work with Steve know he is man of multiple talents, rare work ethic, humor and dedication. An escapee from the corporate world where for many years he achieved success as a Senior Project Manager in demand, and Designer with The Royal Bank of Canada and The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in both Montreal and Toronto.

TEACHER & SPEAKER

Today he is frequently called upon to share his knowledge, wit and philosophy of life and letting go of clutter to achieve a more peaceful life with diverse groups around the GTA; Corporate, Non profit clubs and Professional Associations alike. He has taught at the University of Toronto, Department of Continuing Studies, and is a member of Professional Organizers in Canada (POC), Toastmasters International, the Oakville Chamber of Commerce and other interactive Networking Groups in the GTA.

Nominated for the Harold Taylor Award in 2008 and 2009 recognizing outstanding individual contribution, guidance and direction in the advancement of the organizing profession and for support of Professional Organizers in Canada. (The award was won 2008 by Donna Campbell)

He has also been nominated for Top Small Business Service Provider 2009 in his home area of Oakville, Ontario.

He is a seasoned Toastmaster, award winning public speaker and voice over artist. He mentors on personal presentation and public speaking and offers workshops on self improvement and motivation. He has delivered numerous lectures and workshops at a wide variety of venues including Health and Wellness seminars at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, Attention Deficit & Hyperactivity Disorder workshops at The Canadian Institute for Stress and Lifetime Wellness & CADDAC Annual Conventions, business groups such as Probus (Several chapters: Brampton, Oakville, Hamilton), Advocis, The Oakville Milton Realty Board (accreditation workshops), Oakville Parent Child Services, Retired Women Teachers of Ontario, Home Organization and Motivation seminars, The American Women's Club of Oakville & Toronto), Business Network International, The United Way, Rotary Club, Lion's Club, Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Senior Residences, Retired RCMP Officers etc. etc...

He has been heard on Home Improvement DVDs, read in articles and heard on radio including CBC's Ontario Morning, Cross Country Checkup and Metro morning with Andy Barrie and on CHML Radio Am 900 in Hamilton.

He has taught at the University of Toronto's School of continuing Studies and is a professional writer screen writer having penned scripts for both Film and Television and is currently working his book - The Domestic Archaeologist.

Steve's love of performing goes way back - even before this vintage shot from 1993 while rehearsing a radio play to run on National Public Radio via a local radio studio in Columbia Missouri.

WRITER

He has written several articles on Home Organization and motivating home owners to move on with their lives. See "articles" link below for media on and by Steve. He enjoys writing in all its forms including recently completing a screenplay for a film to be shot next year. He is presently principal writer working on the television series, "Almost Bent' with co-creator and producer/entertainer David LaThangue. Steve has several children's stories derived from award winning humor speeches. He also regularly works on writing short stories, advertising and corporate speeches via his creative company Stephen Ilott Creative Services. His screenplay for the theatrical thriller "The Sketches" is in preproduction.

Professional Organizer
In 2003 he saw a need to make a difference in the community and people's lives with Professional Organization for home owners - a new and growing field. And to aid Real Estate Professionals to "Project Manage' their client's home sale needs vis-a-vie staging, decluttering and reducing the stress of getting a home ready for the market. He joined Professional Organizers in Canada (POC) and created his now increasingly successful company decluttering.ca. combining extremely hard work, life coaching guidance and large dollops of humanity to achieve remarkable results. He brings on board other organizers and trades people of similar work ethic and skills to extend the organization services Decluttering.ca offers such as closet and garage installation. He will help home owners find just the right person to suit their needs via his gateway of information and knowledge. He has helped hundreds of home owners to date to reclaim their lives and living spaces and change their perspectives.
To Steve this has become more than a job - it's hugely satisfying.

FAMILY
He lives in Oakville with his wife of twenty years, Irene Puchalski - a noted senior Architectural Librarian. His brother Peter is a noted name in NASA at jet Propulsion labs in Pasadena, California and is the scientist of the family - having worked closely with the MARS rovers and comet probes. His Shakespeare loving, Maritime born mother is like a fearless worker ant who enjoys moving tree trunks fifteen times her size and shoveling snow and feeding wild cats and racoons. She is 83 and lives north of Montreal.

PASSIONS
He and his wife share a passion for travel, particularly to Paris, France. He loves to sample wine, has a soft spot for radio drama and character voice overs, Zen, history, culture, art, loves to draw, illustrate, write, and speak to rooms full of people. Other private interests include: studies in Martial Arts, Yoga, Digital Photography, Script and screen writing.

ARTIST
Steve is also an accomplished artist and illustrator who has had gallery shows in Montreal, been an editorial and children's book illustrator and cartoon humorist. His work is in both corporate and private collections. He delights in Photoshop retouching to create unique works from ordinary photos. (See clickable link at left for samples of his personal art)
