Decluttering

  • Decluttering is the first and most important step you take to move forward. It requires examination of each object, possession, tool, bin and box, and whatever else that has become stashed, piled, tucked or tossed to become unsightly and overwhelming clutter. Once decluttered we clean & relocate or organize things for better access & use.
  • Decluttering years of emotionally charged possessions can be draining. When faced with the guilt of letting go of things we take on too much, sap our energies and then instantly run away to avoid stress. But what are we really running away from?: gifts we don't want but were given to us, items owned by a family member no longer with us, things we paid good money for but need to let go because they have outlived their usefullness, objects we'd like others to use and not just toss to landfill.
  • You want to enjoy clear spaces once more, downsize with ease or sell your home faster. I will remove these items myself to donate to local charities or people in need or if it's trash I'll arrange pickup. Larger items such as furniture can be picked it useful by persons in need at minimal cost.
  • This process needs a sympathetic guide, another pair of eyes accustomed to methodically work with you to help you establish what serves your life and what is really a remnant of the past that is just dragging you down. An Organizer offers perspective. It is entirely up to you to let go or not. But it is amazing how much you'll find the things that are part of your normal - your landscape is made up of stuff you can handily let go to charity or toss. And you grow by the process as well as cut the anchor of the past to move forward.
  • I am a permanent ally who you may write to and get help from any time. I offer a human voice of understanding & perspective when you feel overwhelmed to help calm your world.

Family rooms in basements sometimes become dumping grounds. Reclaim them to redefine your space uses. Is your home a warehouse or a tranquil oasis to enjoy?

  • Crawl Spaces under your house can be also home to things you'd sooner not have living with you. Decades of mice and insects tucked in with the stuff in those boxes, long ago ignored is not the kind of inheritance you want to leave to your family.
  • The health implications alone should make you feel you'd rather have clear spaces beneath and all around you.
  • What are you really hanging on to? Find out.

  • Garages don't always need a major Organizational system of racks and wall panneling and expensive shelving to be reclaimed.
  • Decluttering is definitely the first step to getting a handle on what you own, what you want to keep, what it's time to get rid of and then look at better ways to store and organize the things the way you'd like.
  • Why not start by keeping space in your garage? Make sense?

  • Dining Rooms tend to become diffused into multiple use. Ever wonder why you're not having meals as a family any more? Unless grounded, each member goes their separate ways - emailing, phone calls, eating on the fly, watching TV.
  • Recreate the communal, defined eating area once more. It's not the kid's room or computer room or your filing room. You have other spaces for that - you just have those spaces crammed and not properly used. You want to have a different feel to escape to for each area. (No TV at dinner is a start. Learn to talk again. Eat slower it's a sure fire way to lose weight and enjoy your food.)
